MADE USING 6061 T6 ALUMINUM, THESE 17MM HEX NUTS ARE EXTENDED 5MM. THIS IS INTENDED TO HELP CLEAR THE RIMS FROM HITTING THE KNUCKLES AND REAR UPRIGHTS.
WE HAVE DONE A LOT OF INVESTIGATION ON THE PROBLEMS OF WHEEL RETENTION.
WHILE WE CANNOT PREVENT THE HEXES FROM STRIPPING OUT ON THESE RIMS, WHAT WE HAVE DONE IS PUT A LOCKING NUT SYSTEM CALLED THE SURE LOCK NUT TO ENSURE THE NUTS DON’T BACK OFF.
THE SURE LOCK NUT HAS MUCH MORE SURFACE CONTACT THAN THE STOCK WHEEL NUT. IT ALSO HAS SMALL SLOTS MILLED .005 DEEPER THAN THE TOP SURFACE.
YOU WILL STILL USE THE STOCK 2 X 12 CROSS PIN AS THE MAIN DRIVER FOR THE HEX NUT.
WHEN THESE NUTS ARE TIGHTENED, THE PLASTIC WHEEL MATERIAL WILL SWELL INTO THESE UNDERCUTS AND CREATE A MUCH STRONGER LOCKING SYSTEM THAN STOCK. BOTTOM LINE IS IF YOU TIGHTEN THE NUTS PROPERLY , THEY WILL NOT BACK OFF
THE ADAPTER IS HELD ON USING A CUSTOM 7075 T6 4MM LUG NUT FOR MAXIMUM STRENGTH.
BLUE LOCTITE IS STRONGLY RECCOMENDED ON THE AXLE TO THE 4MM LUG NUT
NOTE: THIS HEX WILL NOT FIT THE 3S TYPHON BECAUSE THE TYPHON ALREADY HAS 17MM HEXES
